Every year, the attendees of the annual MD meet cast a vote for that year's pony mascot. The colors and designs are always the same, but the kind of pony changes with each year.
Past choices have included G1 earth pony, flutter pony, windy wing pony, collector pose pony, unicorn, pegasus, and G3.
The color scheme is meant to represent the Maryland state flag, since the annual meets have always been held in the state of Maryland:
The mascot is drawn on a poster every year that the meet attendees sign as a way of commemorating each meet. The mascot also helps to differenciate between years, and to sometimes inspire the events and themes of other activities during the meet. |
